Ocular’s Crystal Touch projected capacitive touch panels can be custom designed for outdoor use. These specially designed touch panels are non-birefringent while eliminating glare and reflectance caused by sunlight. Birefringence is the splitting of a light wave into two unequally reflected waves, resulting in a rainbow effect. Birefringence occurs most often with polarized sunglasses and can sometimes occur with use of a cover lens. Ocular can design and manufacture projected capacitive touch panels that are non-birefringent, allowing excellent optical qualities with polarized sunglasses or cover glass.
