Marine & Navigation

Ocular has been designing and manufacturing for the marine industry for nearly two decades. We have been involved at every level of our customer’s supply chain, from providing customized LCDs and touch panels, to designing and manufacturing complete units that are shipped from Ocular’s manufacturing facilities directly to the customer’s distribution center.

Our ruggedized and sealed enclosures are specially designed to meet the demanding environmental challenges of marine applications, including shock and vibration, temperature extremes, sunlight readability and humidity. Ocular’s Crystal Touch projected capacitive touch panel products are ideally suited for extreme environment applications because of their durability, performance and clarity. Crystal Touch, integrated with Ocular’s optical bonding technology, provides a robust solution that is impervious to moisture and perfectly suited for marine applications.

Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels feature the Atmel® maXTouch® line of controllers. The combination of Ocular touch panels and maXTouch controllers creates a touch solution with the sophistication to identify and disregard unintended touches. If not for this advanced feature, a water droplet may look like a touch to the controller. In Ocular’s Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch panels, water droplets will be ignored and not interfere with intentional touches by the user. The controllers featured in Crystal Touch panels are available on an integrated PCB and many sizes are also available with a Chip on Flex (COF) assembly. Standard TRUE multi-touch panels are also available with a pre-integrated, optically bonded soda-lime cover glass as part of Ocular’s Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch PLUS line of PCAP touch panel offerings.

Ocular’s Crystal Touch can withstand extreme temperatures as well as humidity. Marine and navigation systems are exposed to multiple environments and Crystal Touch will function accurately in extremely high or low temperatures as well as in varying humidity levels and after sunlight exposure.
